The
real Fujiyama is thousands of
miles away in Japan and is a real
test of endurance and fitness
to climb, no such efforts needed
here. This quaint little spot
at the quieter end of Norton Street
is a humble eatery that offers
some very nice dishes.

When
we went Fujiyama one Thursday night, we were
the only ones there. Fujiyama unlike the mountain
is quite small but they say good things come
in small packages and it was the case with
this one.
Very
clean and tidy which is a must in my books.
Some strange bits to mention; like the water
filled transparent gloves hanging in the
kitchen (apparently this keeps flies away)
The
menu was good and the price was very fair
to say the least. We started with the Yakidori
(or Yakitori) which was nice and well worth
the $8, and the Goroke (or Korokke) which
was very nice.
We
decided to stay well clear of anything that
even sounded like Teriyaki and instead opted
for the delicious Yakiuiku Beef (or Yakiniku)
followed swiftly by the Ton Katsu Don which
was the winner for me, I must also mention
the miso soup, which I thought was very
tasty, even if I had to ask for the spoon!
If
its fine dinning your after then I would
say give this place a miss, but if it's
a pleasant, clean, quick and economical
place you are after, a local to Leichhardt
and don't feel like Italian, then give it
a go.
