Prasits [Restaurant Review ]

Prasits Thai is located smack in the middle of the buzzing Crown Street, Surry Hills. There are a few local bars and hotels surrounding Prasits which are very nice and you might find that you will be visiting one of them while you wait!

Yes Prasits is no secret and there is never really a good time to go as it is always packed and always a group of people waiting outside for their turn to sample this amazing food.

The inside of this haunt is not really much to rave about, with it's stool tables downstairs and a small seated section upstairs, but its cozy and well if you asked everyone who went there what they thought of the deco they'd probably say "who cares" because Prasits has the most mind blowing food you could ever wish to eat and those who are regulars there or even the uninitiated know a good thing when they taste it.

The menu is so perfectly balanced that to add or remove one item would cause havoc with it's patrons and this is why it's always the same apart from some incredible specials they have on the chalkboard.

When ever you go to Prasits there's always one thing you should have and that's the Satay chicken with peanut sauce $2.00 each, though a word of warning once you have these be prepared for complete disappointment every time you eat a non-Prasits satay chicken, they have this entrée down pat and it is awesome. Just above the main's section on the menu they have two other entrée's, which we tried: Deep fried king prawn fritter tossed in coconut staips $2.95 each and the marinated chicken wrapped in banana leaf also at $2.95 each, the taste of the coconut fritter with the prawn is heaven sent and I could eat these like popcorn given the chance. The marinated chicken is a real tease and just adds to the anticipation of what's to come.

For mains we went for Pad cashew nut stir-fry $12.90 and my wife had the Morton bay bug $20.00 which was not on the menu, but on the specials board. It was through a friend that we found out about this apparently "world beater" and they are not wrong there, it has the appearance of a Thai curry and the green beans and other tasty vegetables are perfectly crunchy and the seafood cooked to perfection.

The Pad cashew stir fry is a timeless classic and the Prasits version is the best I have ever tasted, and that even goes for the one I actually had in Thailand.

Prasits is without doubt the best place I have ever eaten for taste and menu choice and the price is very good considering some places. My advice to anyone going, try not eat all day and order about three mains and the same amount of starters, your taste-buds will never be the same again and everything else will just not compare.

Totally five stars and even that doesn't do it justice.
